Y-series or V-series

Y-series covers the budget and lower mid-range, in both 4G and 5G versions. These are straightforward phones with large batteries and long endurance, and the 5G models are generally the newer platform.

V-series sits above it, and vivo's strength there is portrait photography in particular - the front camera and the portrait processing are consistently better than the price suggests. If video calls and self-portraits are a large part of how you use a phone, that is a real reason to look at one.

Battery and charging

vivo tends to fit larger batteries than average at each price, and its charging speeds are competitive. Combined with an interface that is not particularly demanding, the result is a phone that comfortably lasts a day and often longer.

In Omani summer that matters more than the headline mAh number suggests - heat is what shortens both a charge and the battery's life, and a larger cell means shallower, kinder charge cycles.

Software

vivo's Android layer is heavier than stock, with more preinstalled apps than Motorola or Nothing. Most can be removed.

Google Mobile Services is present, so Play Store, Gmail and Maps work as normal. Check the update commitment on the specific model if you keep phones for many years - it varies more across vivo's range than across Samsung's.
