Why buy from Playphone

Playphone has been trading in Oman since 2008 and supplies more than 300 outlets across Oman as a wholesale distributor. Playphone is an Apple Authorised Reseller. That distribution business is the reason the retail prices work: the stock comes from the brands or their authorised suppliers, not from a grey-market importer.

Everything is factory sealed and 100% original. Playphone does not stock refurbished, pre-owned or grey-market units, and the serial or IMEI goes on your invoice so you can check it against the box before you accept delivery.

Every order comes with a proper invoice and tax documentation, which matters if you are buying for a business or if you ever need to make a warranty claim.

Delivery anywhere in Oman

Delivery is free nationwide. Inside Muscat it is typically 2 to 3 business days, with dispatch within 48 hours on anything held in stock; outside Muscat add a day or two depending on the route.

Playphone runs its own delivery fleet and works with the couriers Dalili and Asyad, so most of the journey is under our own control rather than handed off and hoped for.

Cash on delivery is available. So is collection from the Ruwi or Salalah store, usually the same day if the item is on the shelf.

Paying for it

Playphone offers mobile phone financing through Bank Muscat and NBO, so a more expensive phone does not have to be paid for in one go. Ask us what is available for the device you are looking at.

Playphone also runs trade-in and exchange, handled at the Ruwi and Salalah stores rather than through an online quote tool - the condition of your old handset is what decides the number, and that needs someone to look at it.

Oman's standard VAT rate is 5%, in force since 16 April 2021, and the price on the product page is the price you pay.

Warranty and repairs

New phones and accessories carry twelve months from the invoice date against manufacturing defects. Smartwatches, tablets and other gadgets are covered under the manufacturer's policy instead. Every product page says which applies to it.

Playphone also repairs and maintains phones, tablets and accessories, which means a warranty claim or a fault is handled by people you can go and see rather than by a call centre in another country.

Oman's Consumer Protection Law (Royal Decree 66/2014) makes warranty obligations mandatory and not waivable by agreement: a supplier must repair, replace or refund a defective good at no cost to you. Under the executive regulation, if a repair runs beyond 15 days the agent has to supply a comparable product free of charge in the meantime.
