4 Galaxy Watch configurations from OMR 84.900. Galaxy Watch8 is the everyday model, the Classic adds the rotating bezel, and Ultra is the rugged one.

These need an Android phone. Samsung states on its own support pages that Galaxy Watch 4 and later, including Galaxy Watch Ultra, are not compatible with iOS.

Watch8, Watch8 Classic or Watch Ultra

Galaxy Watch8 is the standard model and the right default: full health tracking, GPS, a bright screen, Wear OS with its app store, and a size that suits most wrists.

Watch8 Classic adds the physical rotating bezel around the screen. It is a genuinely better way to move through menus than swiping a small display with a fingertip, especially with wet or gloved hands, and it makes the watch thicker and heavier.

Galaxy Watch Ultra is built for durability and battery life - a titanium case, a much brighter screen and far longer between charges. It is the one to buy if you are outdoors for long stretches, and more watch than most people need otherwise.

Health tracking on Galaxy Watch

Samsung's sensor array covers heart rate, sleep stages, blood oxygen, body composition and stress, and the Samsung Health app pulls it together.

A wrist sensor produces wellness indicators, not medical measurements. Use the readings to spot a trend and take it to a doctor if something looks wrong - do not use them to diagnose or rule out anything.

Feature availability varies by country and by watch model - some of Samsung's health features are enabled in some markets and not others. If a specific feature is your reason for buying, tell us which one and we will check it against the model on the shelf rather than assume.

Why it pairs best with a Samsung phone

Galaxy Watch works with any Android phone, but several of the conveniences - unlocking the phone, camera control, some health data syncing - are smoother on a Samsung handset.

One limit worth knowing: Google Wallet tap-to-pay in Oman is currently limited to Ahlibank, Sohar International and Sohar Islamic, and Samsung does not list Oman among the markets where Samsung Wallet's payment feature is available. So paying from the wrist depends on who you bank with rather than on which watch you buy.

Battery and charging

Galaxy Watch8 is a daily-to-two-day charge in normal use with the always-on display enabled, longer with it off. Watch Ultra goes considerably further.

The charger is a magnetic puck specific to Samsung watches. It will not charge a phone, and a phone charger will not charge the watch.
