Why a screenless tracker

Removing the display removes the main thing that drains a wearable's battery and most of its bulk. What is left is the part that does the tracking.

The trade is obvious: you cannot glance at your wrist to see your step count or the time. Everything is read in the app. For people who found a smartwatch too distracting, that is the feature rather than the compromise.
