Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions Playphone Oman is asked most: whether products are original, how long delivery takes across Oman, what the warranty covers, how to pay including cash on delivery and Bank Muscat and NBO financing, whether 5G and eSIM work in Oman, and whether Apple Pay and Google Wallet are supported here.

The questions we are actually asked, answered without hedging. Buying questions first, then delivery and payment, then the Oman-specific technical ones.

For anything more involved, the Help Centre goes into detail, or WhatsApp us on +968 9267 2413.

Buying

Everything Playphone sells is factory sealed and 100% original - no refurbished, no pre-owned, no grey-market imports. The serial or IMEI is recorded on your invoice so you can check it against the sealed box before you accept delivery.

If you are not sure which model to buy, message us with what you use the device for rather than which models you are comparing. We will tell you which one fits, including when the cheaper one is the right answer.

For accessories, tell us the exact model of the device. Cases, chargers, Apple Pencils and keyboards are model-specific and this is where nearly all avoidable returns come from.

Delivery and payment

Delivery is free anywhere in Oman - typically 2 to 3 business days inside Muscat, with dispatch within 48 hours on items in stock. Cash on delivery is available, and financing through Bank Muscat and NBO.

You can also collect from the Ruwi or Salalah store, usually the same day if the item is on the shelf. Message us first to confirm it is there.

Oman's standard VAT rate is 5%, in force since 16 April 2021, included in the price shown.

Warranty

New phones and accessories: twelve months from the invoice date against manufacturing defects. Smartwatches, tablets and other gadgets: covered under the manufacturer's policy instead. Each product page states which applies.

Nothing covers physical damage, liquid damage or normal battery wear - that is true of every manufacturer.

Oman's Consumer Protection Law (Royal Decree 66/2014) makes warranty obligations mandatory and not waivable by agreement: a supplier must repair, replace or refund a defective good at no cost to you, whatever any seller's own terms say.

Using a device in Oman

Oman has three networks - Omantel, Ooredoo and Vodafone Oman - and 5G reached about 91% of the population across roughly 5,893 sites by the end of 2024, and all three operators now publish coverage above 90%. Every phone we sell is unlocked and works on any of them.

Omantel offers eSIM on both Baqati and Hayyak lines and Ooredoo offers it on its Oman plans, so an eSIM-only or dual-SIM-plus-eSIM phone is usable here.

Apple Pay works in Oman with Ahli Bank, American Express, Bank Dhofar, Bank Muscat, Bank Nizwa, Meethaq, National Bank of Oman, Oman Arab Bank, OMpay and Sohar International. Google Wallet tap-to-pay in Oman is currently limited to Ahlibank, Sohar International and Sohar Islamic. If paying by phone matters to you and you do not bank with those three, that is a real argument for an iPhone here.
