What you can do at the counter

See and handle a device before you buy it. This is worth more than it sounds for anything you wear or hold all day - watch case sizes, earbud fit, the weight of a folding phone, how a tablet feels with a keyboard attached. Photographs do not convey any of it.

Collect an online order, usually the same day if the item is in stock.

Trade in or exchange a handset. This is done at the counter rather than through an online quote because the condition of the device decides the number.

Start a warranty claim or arrange a repair. Bring the invoice and make sure the serial or IMEI matches. Playphone repairs phones, tablets and accessories in and out of warranty.

Check a case or an accessory against your actual phone. A case that does not fit is the most avoidable return there is, and thirty seconds on the counter prevents it.

Ruwi is the headquarters and the base of the wholesale business, so it is where bulk orders, corporate accounts and trade enquiries are handled as well as retail.

A counter inside the hypermarket rather than a standalone store - convenient if you are already in Mabela, and worth calling first to check what is held there.

Getting there and before you go

Call or WhatsApp with the model you want before you travel. Stock moves and we would rather tell you it is not there than have you drive across Muscat for it.

If you are collecting an online order, have the order number ready. If you are coming for a warranty claim, bring the invoice - the purchase date on it is what the warranty period runs from.

If you are buying a case, a charger or a keyboard, bring the device it is for.
